DIY Bubble Bath Paste
This DIY bubble bath paste is your solution for homemade lowtox bath time, with heaps and heaps of bubbles.
It uses just 2 ingredients – sodium Lauryl sulfoacetate and glycerine, so it couldn’t be simpler!
Isn’t Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate Bad?
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (slsa) is a surfactant and foaming agent made from natural oils. It is no way related to sodium lauryl suflate (SLS) which is a harsh, cheap and drying synthetic surfactant found in many mainstream products. Slsa can be added to many DIY recipes to create bubbles and lather, and as the molecules are too large to penetrate the skin it causes much less irritation than sulfates.
Slsa scores a 1 on the EWG skin deep website

DIY Bubble Bath Paste
Yield:
100g
Prep Time:
3 minutes
Total Time:
3 minutes
A low tox DIY bubble bath paste that produces oodles of bubbles
Ingredients
- [40g Sodium Lauryl sulfoacetate (slsa)]
- [60g Vegetable Glycerine]
Instructions
- Combine both ingredients carefully so as to minimise dust.
- Transfer to airtight container
- Use 1/4-1 tsp per bath depending on the amount of bubbles you want - a Little goes a LONG way!
Notes
- Slsa powder and breathing aren't very compatible so be careful to minimise the dust by mixing slowly and carefully. We also suggest mixing it outside or in a well-ventilated area. Once it is combined with the glycerine there is no more dust generated, making it much better to use than straight slsa in the bathroom

- This recipe makes 100g, if you wanted to make a larger quantity you can multiply the recipe.
Could you add an oil (fractionated coconut, almond, etc) to it as a moisturiser, and essential oils for a nice smell?
You sure can. Just be mindful that adding an oil could make the tub slippery, which might not be ideal for little ones. and if you add essential oils, be sure to dilute them first or use a solubiliser such as alcohol
Could I add a colour to this like a mica or some other natural colour to make it fun?
Hi Alice,
You most definitely can, make it your own!!
