If your kids are like mine this seaweed snacks recipe is going to save you heaps on your grocery bill and get rid of yet another source of toxic vegetable oils. Calling it a recipe is probably being a bit generous. It is so simple it is really more a of a quick how to.

I have actually made these seaweed snacks two different ways and both work great, so I will share both ways so you can choose what suits you best.

Seaweed Snacks


Nori Sheets
Oil (olive, Coconut, or other healthy oil you like)
Good Quality Salt
Flavours of choice (optional)

What To Do

  1. Brush the nori sheets on the shiny side with a small amount of oil and sprinkle with salt and add flavourings if using
  2. Cooking using preferred method below
  3. Cut to desired size and shape

Cooking Method 1 – Oven

  1. preheat oven to 150oC
  2. Make a stack of 4-5 sheets of nori on a baking tray
  3. Bake for 10-15 minutes

Cooking Method 2 – Stove Top

  1. Preheat fry pan to medium heat
  2. Place one sheet of nori into the frying pan oil side down
  3. Place another sheet on top oil side up
  4. Cook until you notice the sheet slightly turning a more green colour (30-60 seconds depending on how hot the pan is) then flip over, so the oil side of the top sheet is not in contact with the frying pan
  5. Place another sheet of nori on top of the pile oil side up
  6. Flip once the bottom sheet is cooked so the oily side of the top sheet is face down
  7. Continue until the desired number of sheets are cooked or your stack gets too large

Flavour Suggestions

There are heaps of possibly flavour combinations so mix it up a bit and get creative. If any of the flavours are a liquid either mix with the oil or brush on separately. Some suggestions are:

  • salt
  • Tamari
  • Tamari and sesame seeds
  • Nutritional yeast flakes
  • chilli
  • Teriyaki
  • Wasabi
